October 2014 in Review | Monthly Favorites

October was actually a pretty good month for me for several reasons. I started getting all my teeth pulled in preparation for getting dentures which in the long run will help me to feel better since I will no longer have infections in my mouth anymore. I'm excited to keep going with the process of getting myself healthier.

Also, October was a great month for my blog. I am still not reaching the audience that I would like as I'm not sure very many people actually read my blog but as far as bettering myself as a blogger and my nail art I think I've accomplished a lot this month and I couldn't be happier. So this post is just going to be a recap of some of my favorite things that have happened here on my blog.

October was Breast Cancer Awareness month and I love how these turned out. You can find more details on this mani Here.

I also did a 13 days of Halloween Series which you can find all of those Here, but here are a few of my favorites.

These were day one of the Halloween series and probably one of my favorites. You can find the details Here

I actually surprised myself with how well these patchwork nails turned out. Find out the details on these Here

For the last of my monthly favorites for this post are the reason I started doing nail art in the first place. I really love how these turned out and cant believe how far I've come in 2 years since beginning this journey. You can see my progress in this post Here.

So that is my October 2014 review and monthly favorites. I'm going to try and do a post like this from now on every month. For the month of November I plan on swatching my collection along with a few fall manis and of course some Thanksgiving nails. Hope you will all join me!

13 days of Halloween | Nightmare Before Christmas

Sadly it is the last day of the 13 days of Halloween. My obsession with nail polish and nail art began 2 years ago today when I saw somewhere online that you could paint Jack Skellington on your nails. Who would have thought, Right? I had to try it out. I had about 4 bottles of nail polish and 2 striping polishes at the time. I wont scare you at the beginning of this post with a throwback picture of that failed attempt at nail art, however, I will post it at the end. I will also mention that at that time I had just found out that I had Psyriosis which had severely affected my skin especially parts of my hands. So when It comes to the last picture of this post, please excuse my skin. So lets get into day 13 with some Nightmare Before Christmas nail art.

You'll have to excuse the Sally pattern. I had taken pictures shortly before going to bed and when I had woken up the next day to start editing the pictures, they were gone. So over night Sally had gotten a little squished. :(

Items Used:

China Glaze - White on White
ELF - Dark Navy
LA Colors Rapid Dry

Apple Barrel Acrylic Paints:

White
Black
Mosaic Blue
Apricot
Pink Eraser
Bright Yellow
Laguna

Now for the throwback. Please remember these were two years ago when I had NO IDEA what I was doing and looking back still have NO IDEA what I was going for. At the time I thought they were the greatest things since sliced bread. Boy was I wrong!

Looking back at this picture I would have never thought that 2 years later I would go from 4 nail polishes to over 700 nail polishes and still be doing this. You can definitely see the improvement. If I only knew then what I know now :).

Well that's it for the 13 days of Halloween series for 2014. I've had so much fun that I plan on doing it again next year. Hope you all enjoyed. Have a great and safe Halloween!

13 days of Halloween | Haunted House

Have you ever been to a haunted house at Halloween time. Last time I went to one, I got the (insert your own word here) scared out of me. Don't get me wrong, I love all things horror, but there is something about a man running after you with a chainsaw after you have already watched way to many scary movies and crime shows that just doesn't sit well with me. Feel free to tell your haunted house stories in the comments below.

13 days of Halloween | Blood Splatter

For day 3 of the 13 days of Halloween I decided to go with blood splatter. I did blood splatter and paint splatter some time last year and had a lot of fun with it, so I figured I would give it a go again. If you haven't tried paint/blood splatter you should definitely give it a try. Last year when I did blood splatter, I had left all the excess nail polish on my skin to give it a more realistic feel. Kind of a bad idea depending on the polish you used. After leaving it on last years design, when I went to take it off....It had stained my skin. Big Uh Oh. So i decided against it this time.

Items Used:

China Glaze - White on White
Pure Ice - Siren

Topped with LA Colors Rapid Dry

Stay tuned for the rest of the 13 days of Halloween.

13 days of Halloween | Pumpkin Nail Art

October is my favorite month since my favorite holiday falls during the month. Halloween has always been a fun time for me. I've always loved dressing up as a kid and now having two 8 years olds I get to dress them up and take them out for a fun time. I started doing nail art 2 years ago this October. So you could say that is where my obsession started, with the Jack Skellington nails I had done. They turned out awful so I plan on redoing them this year. My sister and I sat down the other day and came up with 13 different nail art ideas to bring you for my 13 days of Halloween.

So to get started I have decided to go with pumpkins for day one.

Products Used:

LA Colors base coat
Kleancolor - Madly Black
Sinful Colors - Black Magic

Apple Barrel Acrylic Paints:
Jack O Lantern
Harvest Orange
Lime Tree

Topped with LA Colors Rapid Dry

Stay tuned for the rest of the 13 days of Halloween.

Zombie Halloween Inspired Water Marble

Here is the first of many Halloween inspired water marble/nail art. This one reminds me of zombies, disease...Better yet, have you seen the movie Chernobyl Diaries. Lets cross that with The Walking Dead. This SUNDAY is the premiere of The Walking Dead. Who else is with me with excitement!!! Anyways, On to the nails.

I used colors that were suggested by Katherine over at Rambles of a Polish Addict. She gave me quite a few colors but I was having trouble with them drying so I chose a few. I went with green, red and black. I did have a little frustration with these. The middle 2 nails were done 3 days before the other two, and the color difference kinda upset me.

Polishes used:
Pure Ice- Black Out
Wet N Wild Wild Shine-Stand the test of lime (Pop Art Collection)
Wet N Wild-Red Red
Black acrylic paint
Glossy Glam Top Coat

I hope you've enjoyed these and stay tuned for more Halloween water marble and nail art.
